Guests say

Thalassa in Daymer Bay, Cornwall, is a well-loved cottage with stunning views and a well-equipped kitchen. Guests have enjoyed its proximity to beaches and coastal paths, and many have had memorable stays, with some returning annually. The property offers ample space, Sky TV, and a key safe for convenience.

While many guests found Thalassa clean and tidy, some noted issues with cleanliness such as dirty tissues and a stinking kitchen bin upon arrival. These seem to be isolated incidents rather than the norm, suggesting generally good but occasionally inconsistent cleaning standards.

The location is highly praised for its fantastic views and convenience for coastal walks and nearby beaches. It is a standout feature of Thalassa, contributing to many guests' enjoyable stays.

The property is described as cosy and warm with plenty of space for guests. However, some guests mentioned issues with uncomfortable mattresses and cold radiators, indicating room for improvement in comfort.

Thalassa is well-equipped, especially the kitchen, and offers amenities like Sky TV. However, guests reported maintenance issues such as non-working lights and a slow-draining shower, suggesting that while facilities are generally good, attention to maintenance is needed.

There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches in the reviews provided, so it is not possible to assess this category. Therefore, the score is set to null.

About this property

Thalassa is a well-positioned, stunning home set above Greenaway Beach on the Atlantic Ocean in North Cornwall, whilst overlooking the mouth of the Camel Estuary. Enjoying magnificent sea views from its majestic clifftop position, Thalassa is an attractive, well-equipped holiday home, offering four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and spacious living and dining areas, providing ample accommodation for up to seven guests. The property is accessed via a private unmade road, has off-road parking, and is set amidst a wonderful large lawned garden that children will love to explore. From the moment you arrive you will soak up the natural light from the many windows, each framing the ever-changing coastal landscape. A large, south-facing terrace is perfect for sun-drenched suppers and lazy breakfasts, prepared in the well-equipped kitchen, then, as the evening air chills down, you can retire to the sun lounge to enjoy the sense of space and the breath-taking sunsets. From Thalassa you can easily explore the beauty of North Cornwall with many fine sandy beaches within a 5-mile radius, most of which are dog-friendly all year round. The holiday home has direct access onto the coastal paths, which link to nearby Daymer Bay, the world-renowned St Enodoc Golf course, and the pretty St Enodoc church, the resting place of the late poet laureate Sir John Betjeman. At low tide you can walk across the sands around to Rock for some retail therapy, wonderful restaurants or catch the short ferry ride to Padstow. In the other direction you will reach Polzeath, renowned as one of the best surfing beaches in Britain and offering yet more water sports, cafés, shops, and galleries. Experience the best of the Cornish coastline from Thalassa.

Daymer Bay and the village of Trebetherick were both loved by Sir John Betjeman and are unquestionably special. With a huge appeal to both the young and not so young, Daymer Bay has recently been voted one of the best beaches in the world! St. Enodoc Church, once buried in the sand, is within comfortable walking distance of Daymer Bay and is the resting place of Sir John Betjeman. Daymer Bay holds great appeal for wind surfers with the waves rolling up the estuary. There is enormous fun too for small children with buckets and spades and fishing in the rock pools. Up from the coast path as it runs from Daymer Bay is Highcliffe, nestling between Polzeath and Trebetherick, both of which boast a number of pubs, restaurants and village stores all offering a wide variety of fresh quality produce. The properties at Highcliffe have the advantage of being within easy reach of Daymer, Polzeath and Greenaway - Greenaway being the name given to the clifftop area, beach and small cove with rock pools overlooking the Atlantic beyond that lies between Daymer and Polzeath.

Unsurpassed views, fabulous sunsets which can be enjoyed from the patio on warm evenings or from the sunroom/conservatory if a bit chilly. The house has so much space for everyone to enjoy in comfort. The kitchen was really well equipped and had everything you could think of and more! I can’t wait to stay there again! PS - Just one note - the information booklet for the house stated rubbish/recycling would not be collected until Tuesday (after a Thursday changeover), but they actually collected it on Friday morning (the day after we arrived). So that was good.
